What is the Texas District Gathering?

Held every 3 years, the LCMS Texas District Gathering provides hundreds of youth and adults from the state of Texas the opportunity to come together as a community of God’s people to study, worship, and serve.

Glorybound’s primary focus is for youth participants aged 14-19.

When and Where is the 2018 LCMS Texas District Gathering?

The 2018 Texas District Gathering is set for July 12-15, 2018 at the Westin Hotel in Irving, Texas.

What is the pricing structure for the Texas District Gathering?

Early Registration (October 1 – December 31, 2017)
Total Cost: $160 ($75 deposit due at registration. Full balance due by March 31.)

Regular Registration (January 1, 2018 – March 31, 2018)
Total Cost: $170 ($75 deposit due at registration. Full Balance due by March 31)

Late Registration (April 1 – June 30, 2018)
Total Cost: $190 (All due at registration.)

Do I have to stay at the gathering hotel?

Yes, all participants must stay at the Westin Hotel, Irving. Book a room for Glorybound here!

Each church will need to fill out a Texas Hotel Occupancy Tax Exemption Certificate.

What is a servant event?

The servant events are a time for each church to serve the local area where the gathering is being held. Each group will be assigned a different event as Glorybound gets closer.

What are the Age Requirements for Participants?

Youth participants must be 14 by the time of the of Glorybound OR entering his/her ninth grade year of high school.

What is recommended youth-to-adult ratio for a group?

Always 2 adults (one male, one female)
1-8 youth: 2 adults
9-16 youth: 3 adults
17-24 youth: 4 adults
25-32 youth: 5 adults
33-40 youth: 6 adults

What is the age requirement for adult leaders?

Adult participants should be at least 21 years of age at the time of the gathering and should have completed a background check by their church.

Are background checks required for adults and young adult volunteers?

Yes, background checks are required for adult chaperones and young adult volunteers. They must be completed within a year prior to the event through each local church.

How do young adults (aged 19-25) attend the gathering?

A young adult volunteer (YAV) has a great opportunity to serve those attending the gathering working behind the scenes to help Glorybound run smoothly. Young Adult Volunteers will need to apply to be a YAV and complete a background check through their church.

Can youth who are not members of the congregation attend?

Yes, Glorybound is a great event for youth to invite friends who are not member for their congregation and to learn about God’s love for them.

Must I have transportation while at the event?

Yes, transportation is needed for the local servant events and for travel for meals, etc.
